Maureen Denise McCormick - the youngest of Richard McCormick's children - was born at Woodland Hills in 1956. Her father was a schoolteacher and her mother was a stay-at-home mother. There are three brothers older than her: Michael Dennis and Kevin. McCormick started singing and performing from a young age. Following her win in her first Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest when she was just 6 an old Pat Domigan called from Jack Wormser Agency to see what she thought about getting into the entertainment industry. McCormick found her first role as an actress major in 1964. She was featured in an advertisement for Mattels' newest doll Baby Pattaburp. She subsequently starred in the role of Chatty Cathy in a commercial and was then cast for Wind It Up And It's Breaks by the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick won an audition in 1969 from over 1,200 youngsters to be one of the oldest twin daughters in the TV program The Brady Bunch, starring Florence Henderson as a newlywed and Robert Reed. The show ran for five years. In her autobiography Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice released in 2008, McCormick admitted that in the shows fifth season she almost lost her virginity due to her onscreen brother and co-star Barry Williams. In 2008, McCormick revealed in her book Here's the story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Identifying My True Voice, that during the fifth season of the show, she nearly lost her virginity to Barry Williams. We would've had a relationship, said she. However, the timing was not just right.
